A river of wine flows through the streets of a Portuguese city

Residents of the city of Sao Lourenco do Bairro were surprised by a river of “red wine” running through the city’s streets.

Alcohol spilled from two containers carrying 600,000 gallons, while the amount spilled on the streets was estimated to be enough to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

The local authorities deliberately stopped the flow of wine before turning the Sertima River into red wine.
