A guide to Domestic Workers’ Location & Nature of Work

Domestic help has certain rights regarding the location and nature of the work. When it comes to safety and maintaining a healthy work environment in Kuwait, one should take in special consideration to articles drawn by the Domestic workers’ law to ensure the safety of the workers. Domestic worker laws provide the following terms and conditions.

The employer is only entitled to instruct the employee to complete the tasks specified in his/her contract

Identifying Workplace  

The employee’s place of work shall be specified in the employment contract. The employer shall not require the employee to work elsewhere

Dangerous and Degrading Jobs The employer shall not instruct the employee to undertake a harmful or dangerous task that threatens his/her health or affects his/her human dignity

Working for Others The employer is not entitled to make the domestic worker work for another person

Work Outside Kuwait The employer is not entitled to take the domestic worker to another country to work for him/her there without the domestic worker’s consent • Article 46 Domestic Workers Law
