912,096 passengers criss-cross Kuwait Airport in April, airfreight decreases 5 pc

The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation stated that passenger traffic to and from the Kuwait International Airport increased by 41% during April, with the total number of passengers reaching 912,096, compared to 646,774 in the same month last year.

The Deputy Director General for Aviation Safety Department, Air Transport and Aviation Security Affairs, Imad Al-Jalawi said 354,646 passengers arrived into the country while 557,450 passengers during April, reports Al-Anba daily quoting KUNA.

Al-Jalawi explained that aircraft movement during the same period increased by 29%, as the number of incoming and outgoing flights reached 8,983, compared to 6,948 flights in April 2022. He stated that air cargo traffic decreased by 5% last April, reaching about 16.5 million kilograms, compared to 17.4 million kilograms during the same period in 2022.

He indicated that the incoming freight traffic amounted to about 13.3 million kilograms, while the outgoing freight traffic was 3.1 million kilograms last April, indicating that the most requested destinations during the same period were Jeddah, Dubai, Cairo, Istanbul and Doha.

Regarding the percentage of market movement of airlines during last April, he explained that the share of Kuwait Airways was 29% and Jazeera Airways 26%, while the rest of the companies had a market share of 45%.
