83,000 Expat residents left Kuwait permanently in last 3 months

A recent report on the labor market in the third quarter of 2020, revealed that about 83,574 residents left the country permanently during the period from September to December 2020, Al Qabas daily reported.

Thus the number of residents in the labor market has decreased to 1.5 million workers. The report indicated that within 3 months the contracts of 2,144 residents in various government agencies were terminated, while the Ministry of Health and Ministry of education have the highest number of expat employees followed by Kuwaiti Airlines, Bakeries, and Public Transport.

Resident employment in government agencies constitutes 29% of the total registered workers in the government sector. Win that 65% of the expats are employed in the Ministries of Education and Health as teachers and medical staff.

The domestic workers’ sector also witnessed a decrease in the number of workers within the last 3 months by about 7385 domestic workers.
