8 expatriates, a colonel put behind bars for accepting bribe

The Criminal Court has issued a verdict against a colonel working in the Ministry of Interior and sent him behind bars for eight years with hard labor and sentenced eight expatriates to prison terms between four and six years with hard labor in a case of bribery in exchange for obtaining driving licenses.

The Public Prosecution had charged the main accused who is a public servant working as an officer in the Ministry of Interior with the rank of colonel, and he took money for his personal use in the form of bribe which is considered an appropriation of public money, and breach of his duties, in exchange for obtaining driving licenses for expatriates who do not meet the conditions set by the state by approving the requests for issuing licenses, reports Al-Rai daily.

The prosecution charged the others for mediating on behalf of others with the colonel to obtain driving licenses for them in exchange for money.
