The Ministry of Health announced 704 new coronavirus infections, raising the total to 98,528 while 5 deaths were reported raising the number fatalities to 580.
The figures include people who have had sustained contact with infected individuals and others whose source of infection is being investigated, according to ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad.
Breakdown of infected according to areas, with 165 cases in Ahmadi, 195 cases in Hawalli, 134 cases in Farwaniya, 111 cases in the Capital, and 99 cases in the Al-Jahra.
The number of people hospitalized with the virus stands at 9172; 101 of whom are in intensive care units. He pointed out that the number of swabs that were conducted in the past 24 hours were 5928 swabs, bringing the total to 701484.
Some 865 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours to raise the total to 88,776 cases, added the spokesman. Urging the public to be mindful of health precautions, he said following social distancing rules was the only way to ward off the coronavirus.
