698 new coronavirus cases in Kuwait, 3 deaths

The Ministry of Health announced 698 new coronavirus infections, raising the total to 96,999 while 3 deaths were reported raising the number fatalities to 571.

The figures include people who have had sustained contact with infected individuals and others whose source of infection is being investigated, according to ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad.

Breakdown of infected according to areas, with 171 cases in Ahmadi, 168
cases in Hawalli, 138 cases in Farwaniya, 137 cases in the Capital, and 84 cases in the Al-Jahra.

The number of people hospitalized with the virus stands at 9241; 93 of whom are in intensive care units. He pointed out that the number of swabs that were conducted in the past 24 hours were 5384 swabs, bringing the total to 689588.

Some 968 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours to raise the total to 87,187 cases, added the spokesman. Urging the public to be mindful of health precautions, he said following social distancing rules was the only way to ward off the coronavirus.
