Domestic workers on 34 banned country list can fly direct into Kuwait from Dec 7

Kuwait cabinet has approved the plan for the return of domestic visa holders directly into the country, government spokesman Tareq Al Merzem disclosed to the media. The spokesperson said that the fee for the institutional quaratine was fixed at KD 270 and would not include the ticket fare.

This comes as a great relief to thousands of domestic workers who were stranded outside the country. The majority of the domestic workers are expected to return from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Philippines.

Kuwaities have been pressuring their government to lift the travel restrctions so that their domestic workers could return. There has been a considerable hike in domestic worker fees and as a result of the shortage due to the entry ban from these countries.

Kuwait has witnessed  reduced coronavirus infections during the past week and this has also given the government confidence to implement the plan to return back to normalcy
