61 Filipinos are first arrivals under domestic workers return plan

The first Kuwait Airways flights carrying domestic workers under the return plan arrived from the Philippines today, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced, Al Qabas reported. The passengers came from one of the 34 countries on a banned list from where flights are not permitted to enter the country.

The DGCA official spokesman Saad Al-Otaibi said to Al-Qabas daily that the total number of arrivals on the Philippine flight reached 61 passengers, and is the first flight according to the flight schedules prepared for domestic workers.

He mentioned that the first phase of the plan to return workers includes the countries of India and the Philippines, and the resumption of flights from India to Kuwait regarding domestic workers will start within a few days.

Al-Otaibi said that the medical and technical staff at Kuwait International Airport (KIA) received the domestic workers upon their arrival to ensure they are adhering to the required health procedures, which includes PCR tests for arrivals, the results which are then entered by international laboratories into the Medical Utility Network Accreditor (MUNA) program. He pointed out that the ground services company approved by KIA is responsible for transporting workers to the quarantine housing, providing logistical and security services, and completing the rest of the pcr checks and meals.

He mentioned that there is a technical committee that follows up on the implementation of the plan for the return of domestic workers from abroad, headed by the Civil Aviation with the collaboration of several government agencies.

In addition, other tasks is to keep updated on the performance of airlines and ground services in implementing plans in all respects in accordance with health requirements and humanitarian and security standards. Al-Otaibi called on citizens who wish to make arrangements for the return of their domestic workers who have valid residency in the country to register online or at the app BelSalamah.com that provides the required services and facilitates the travel procedures for domestic workers to arrive in KIA.
