6 properties in Salmiya lose power for housing bachelors

The Hawalli municipality’s emergency team and rapid intervention, in coordination with several government agencies, launched a campaign in Salmiya on Sunday. The campaign targeted properties housing bachelors in residential areas, and resulted in the cutting off of electricity in six properties, three of which were completely cut off. The team also issued three warnings to bachelors and three warnings for an increase in the construction rate. Workers who were living in housing contrary to what was mentioned in their civil cards were arrested. A violation report was drawn up for the presence of illegal connections, and a warning was issued for trespassing on state property.

The head of the Hawalli Municipality Emergency and Rapid Intervention Team, Ibrahim Al-Sabaan, told Al-Anbaa that the team has discovered several properties that have tampered with electrical connections, and the current has been cut off from them. A violation report has been filed against the bachelors who live in these homes.

Al-Sabaan said that the municipality’s campaigns against housing bachelors are under the supervision and follow-up of the Director General of the Municipality, and that any property that is found to be renting to bachelors will be issued a violation according to the established procedures. He pointed out that the power supply has been cut off for 25 violating properties in Hawalli since the start of the campaign. He urged citizens to report any violating properties so that the committee can take legal action against them.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works’ representative, Ahmed Al-Shammari, said that their mission is to inspect sewage manholes and the rainwater network. During the tour, two illegal connections were discovered that were connected without the knowledge of the Ministry. This is considered a violation, and the Environment Public Authority will take action against the violator.

Furthermore, judicial officer at the Ministry of Electricity and Water, Ali Zainal, appealed to real estate owners to adhere to preserving the meters and electric board, pointing out that illegal exploitation of electricity would harm the main source of energy in the country.
