6.2-magnitude earthquake strikes Halmahera, Indonesia

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 struck the region of Halmahera in Indonesia on Monday, according to the German Geological Sciences Research Center (GFZ). The earthquake, originating at a depth of 160 kilometers below the Earth’s surface, sent tremors through the region, prompting concerns about potential damage and aftershocks, reported Al-Rai Daily.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the vicinity of Halmahera, a large island in eastern Indonesia known for its stunning landscapes but also its susceptibility to seismic activity.
