599 domestic workers’ visas were renewed online

Since the launch of online renewals for residency permits of domestic workers (Article 20) through the Ministry of Interior (MoI) website, around 599 residency renewal transactions were completed, Al Rai daily reported.

The Director of the General Department for Public Relations and Security Media at the Ministry, Brigadier Tawheed Al-Kandari, revealed in a statement to Al-Rai that residency renewals for domestic workers registered on Article 20 was transferred to online for 24 hours starting Monday as part of the security strategy developed by the department.

Al-Kandari added that the residency of 599 domestic workers was renewed by sponsors on the website on the first official day of the site launch, and this step came to make it easier for citizens to complete their domestic labor transactions, in addition to preventing the gathering of visitors in the residency affairs departments.

This was also as part of the adherence to health requirements, especially since Kuwait is still following precautionary measures to fight the Coronavirus pandemic, he added before explaining that the Ministry of the Interior, represented in the residency affairs sector, has provided a special counter for the elderly and people with special needs, to carry out their transactions easily.

Al-Kandari concluded by calling all sponsors, who have domestic workers, not to come to any residency affairs department, instead to renew residency visas online within a few minutes, stressing that many citizens are easily taking advantage of the online services provided by the Ministry of Interior.
