59,000 migrant workers voluntarily left during Corona crisis

The Deputy Director-General for Employment Affairs at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), Abdullah Al-Mutatah, revealed that 59,000 expatriate workers voluntarily left country following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Al-Mutatah said, in a television interview, “It is necessary to differentiate between those who have left the country and those who were unable to enter Kuwait.”

The Al-Rai daily quoting the official said, “Those who left voluntarily (59,000 people), are not among those who had taken refuge in the shelters because they were violators of the laws – residence or labor — and were deported with the help of the Ministry of Interior.”

Meanwhile, Al-Mutatah said PAM has no reservations about any nationality unless in the case of security restrictions, and that this is issue is handled by the concerned authorities.
