4,200 Filipinos extend their passports through the mobile consular service

The Philippine embassy started a mobile service from January 17 to do transactions of extending the validity of the passport of Nationals only at the Kuwait Sports Club for the Disabled in Hawalli during the weekends, Al Qabas reported. This is due to the closure of its main building in Al-Siddiq area and move to Sabah Al-Salem. The mobile service will continue on the next weekends on 19, 20, 26 and 27 February.

Many Filipino workers came to take advantage of the service to extend their passports, which caused confusion and severe pressure on the officials present. Initially, 2,200 Filipinos visited which gradually grew over this weekend to a thousand new Filipinos, who submitted their passports, said the daily. During the application process, all measures are taken to adhere to health regulations.

According to the sources, the embassy decided to address the concern of many Filipinos whose residency was not renewed by employers and their passports’ validity is less than a year. In response, the embassy, with the support of some Filipino organizations in Kuwait, launched a mobile consular service at the end of every week during February to only deal with extending the validity of passports.

In a statement on its website, the embassy urged its citizens to bring all the necessary documents, including the completed passport application forms, along with the original passport and a copy of it, in addition to a copy of the civil ID, and an amount of KD6.500 dinars to submit the application.
