400,000 doses of AstraZeneca to arrive in Kuwait in March

Next March, the second shipment of the AstraZeneca – Oxford vaccine, estimated to number 400,000 doses, will arrive in Kuwait in March, according to informed health sources to Al Jarida daily.

The sources confirmed to Al Jarida that this second vaccine shipment will be distributed to the Kuwait Vaccination Center in the 5 and 6 halls in the exhibition grounds in Mishref area, as well as public hospitals and health centres that vaccinate people, which number 15 clinics, in addition to vaccinating teachers belonging to the Ministry of Education and Company Hospital Kuwait oil, the military hospital, and other bodies.

Last month, the Ministry of Health (MoH) received the first shipment of the British vaccine, estimated at 200,000 doses.

It is noticeable recently that the pace of the vaccination campaign against the Coronavirus has increased, since the Ministry of Health launched the vaccination campaign in December 27 in only one place in Kuwait.

Messages are being sent to those who are eligible for vaccination at a shorter time, and the number of people who receive the vaccination has increased dramatically in recent times.

Hospital vaccination

In addition, MoH launches today a vaccination service in public hospitals, which will operate in morning and evening shifts.

Informed health sources expected about 500 people to be vaccinated per day in each hospital.

The public hospitals in which this service will be launched are Al-Amiri, Al-Adan, Al-Furawaniyah, Al-Jahra, Mubarak and Jaber, in addition to the Kuwait Oil and Jaber Al-Ahmad Armed Forces Hospitals, which started service last week.

The sources stated that this service will initially be allocated to medical staff, and that after that, certain segments of citizens and expats for hospital vaccinations will be expanded after that.

Public hospitals will use the AstraZeneca vaccine for medical, technical, nursing and administrative staff working in hospitals in the coming days.
