37,000 booster doses administered over past 24 hours

The Ministry of Health is in the process of increasing the community immunity by administering the booster dose of the vaccine to residents and citizens.

Health sources told Al-Rai “about 37,000 people have received the booster dose within 24 hours,” suggesting that “the numbers will rise further with the opening of the door to received the dose without prior appointment, at the Jaber Bridge and the Jleeb Youth Center vaccination centers as of yesterday, in addition to the Mishref Fairgrounds vaccination center which has been receiving people non-stop.

Simultaneously, 15 health centers were also inaugurated to provide the booster dose, bringing the total to 51 primary health care centers that provide the third dose.

The sources reassured that “despite the marked increase in the number of daily infections, it is noticeable that these infections are mild and require less intensive care,” noting that “the immune status of society represented by the high rate of vaccination and receiving the booster dose plays an important role in confronting the new Omicron mutant.”

The health sources stressed it is natural and something expected to see the increase in infections at this stage, considering that the effects in Kuwait will not be as severe as some countries which have a low rate of immunization, stressing at the same time the need to continue to adhere to the health protocols.

Meanwhile, the head of the advisory committee to confront Corona Dr. Khaled Al-Jarallah confirmed, “The rate of infection in the Gulf has increased compared to last week.”
