33 expats given new entry visas

Thirty-three expat employees were given approval of the competent committee in the Council of Ministers who are in charge of considering companies’ requests for new work permits for expat employees to enter the country, Al Qabas daily reported. This comes under the directives of the Public Authority for Manpower which requires prior approval from the committee.

The daily said, quoting a responsible source that all employment files registered with university qualifications or diploma holders without having the authority’s approval are suspended. The companies are required to submit their employees’ certificates to the Planning and Development Sector to receive approval for their university qualifications and diplomas before applying for renewal, transfer, or making amendments to their work permits. The new system is linked between the different sectors and the names cannot be approved in the absence of certified qualifications attached to the worker’s file from the competent department.

The new automated system will not allow for visa renewals if unaccredited academic qualifications are registered, noting that the total number of workers whose certificates are approved in the authority’s automated systems exceeded 8,000 workers.

The new system

In another context, the workforce asked the Audit Bureau to approve a contract for operating, maintaining and developing its online system under a contract with a local company, as it submitted requests to the Bureau on January 12, with a value of KD1,902,933.
