Personnel from the Correctional Institutions Security Department of the General Administration of Correctional Institutions thwarted an attempt to fly 3 drones into the Central Prison facility in the Sulaibiya area.
According to security sources securitymen were able to seize one drone, while the other two fled — one towards Sulaibiya and the other in the direction of Al-Raqi.
A security source told a local Arabic daily the issue has been investigated and the seized drone has been handed over to the Criminal Evidences Department to lift the fingerprints with the aim of reaching the suspects.
The daily added, the prison authorities have initiated investigations with the inmates to find out who were to receive the drones and what were the motives behind this attempt.
On the other hand, personnel from the General Administration of Correctional Institutions, in cooperation with the Special Security Forces raided the Central Prison wards and seized 70 mobile phones, cables, charges, internet supply devices, knives and quantity of drugs.
