The Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior said the General Traffic Department has issued about 280,000 traffic citations to heavy duty trucks during the first six months of 2021, some of not abiding by the laws and a majority of them — 275,108 for parking in ‘No parking’ zones.
The department added, the GTD plays an effective role in monitoring the movement of traffic and organizes campaigns on main and internal roads around the clock.
The Public Relations sources stressed the traffic department works in coordination and cooperation with the Kuwait Municipality to provide suitable parking spaces for trucks and they and legal measures are taken if the parking rules are violated (if they are not parked in designated areas).
