21.6% of the country’s workers in both sectors are single

A report issued by the Labor Market Information System revealed that 21.6% of workers in the country, whether citizens or residents, are “single”, with about 399,000 single out of a total of 1.9 million workers in the public and private sectors.

The report, pf which a local Arabic daily has obtained a copy, and issued in the first quarter of this year, pointed out that the 37,454 single Kuwaiti women working in the government sector represent 39.1% of the total workers in the sector.

The number of single Kuwaiti women working in the “private” appeared to be low to 19.9%, compared to their married counterparts, and their percentage was 62.5%.

With regard to the marital status of the private sector, the number of single non-Kuwaiti males reached 248,720, compared to one million married workers in the sector.

The decrease in the total number of married workers in the market was clear, as it decreased in 3 months by about 5,000 people, compared to an increase in the percentage of unmarried workers by about 8,000.

The report pointed to an increase in the total number of divorce cases registered among workers in different sectors, with a total of 69 cases in 3 months, bringing the total number of divorced people across the market to 29,398 individuals.

The volume of Kuwaiti employment in the “Private” also increased to settle until last March at 72,692 Kuwaitis, an increase of 470 workers over the figures recorded at the end of 2021.

As for expatriate workers, the report showed an increase of 2362 workers in the first three months of this year, with the exception of the family sector “domestic workers”, which recorded an increase of 19,532 new workers, after a sharp decrease in their numbers during the Corona crisis.
