2074 violations were issued, 6 negligent motorists were detained in Hawally

The Traffic and Operations Sector of the Ministry of Interior, under instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs, Major-General Jamal Al-Sayegh, carried out a field campaign in Hawalli, under the supervision of Assistant Director-General of the General Traffic Department for Traffic Research Affairs, Brigadier Khaled Mahmoud, and the Assistant Director-General of the Traffic Department Research and Education Affairs, Brigadier General Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khaled, which resulted in issuing 2,074 violations, impounding 18 vehicles and referring 8 juveniles to the General Department of Criminal Investigation, Juvenile Police Department, and referred six persons to the Traffic Court.

In a statement to Al-Jarida, Brigadier General Mahmoud said that the field security campaigns succeeded in impounding vehicles which violated road safety, security and durability conditions and arrested motorists who were driving without licenses. The primary aim was to impose prestige of the law.

Speaking of juveniles driving without license, Mahmoud said the legal penalty also falls on the person who allowed the juvenile to use his/her vehicle and in the event of denial of the person who handed it over, a case of theft will be filed against the juvenile.

If a juvenile is caught driving without license and the family of the suspect is present at the time of the offense, this violation is a crime committed with active participation of the family.

For his part, Public Relations and Traffic Awareness Department at the General Traffic Department, Major Abdullah Buhassan, said during the campaign 238 motorists were caught using a phone while driving, 253 not wearing a seat belt, 98 truck violations, 100 taxi violations, and 285 other violations.
