15 Kuwaiti judges on the platform of justice

The number of Kuwaiti female sitting judges increased to 15, after the promotion of two female judges from the Public Prosecution Office to the Plenary Court.

An informed source told a local Arabic daily, “There is great confidence from the Public Prosecution and the Supreme Judicial Council in the Kuwaiti female prosecutors and work is underway to promote more of them — in accordance with the regulations and laws regulating this matter — to be judges and the participation of their counterparts in issuing judicial rulings.”

The Prosecution pointed out that female judges are distinguished by their work proficiency and competence in important cases, including cases of assault on public money, and some of them preside over departments in misdemeanor cases.

The source revealed an imminent plan to involve female judges in criminal circuits and administrative courts, after their success in adjudicating misdemeanor cases.
