1,391 cases filed before Public Prosecution Office in two months

A recent statistics by the Ministry of Justice revealed 1,391 felony cases were filed with the Public Prosecution during the months of January and February 2023 related to murders, kidnappings, assaults on one’s reputation and the property of others.

The statistics – a copy of which has been obtained by the Al-Qabas daily — showed that 889 criminal cases were filed before the Public Prosecution Office in January, compared to 502 cases in February.

According to the statistics, the number of cases handled during the two months amounted to 1210, including 787 cases in January and 423 in February, and 788 cases were filed, including 540 in January and 248 in February.

The statistics stated that the number of murder and self-assault cases in January amounted to 56, compared to 39 in February, while cases of kidnapping, arrest and detention amounted to 21 cases in January, compared to 13 in February.

The statistics showed that cases of assault on honor and reputation amounted to 29 cases in January, compared to 23 cases in February, while cases of assault on the money of others amounted to 125 cases in January, compared to 75 cases in February.

With regard to drug and psychotropic substances cases, the statistics revealed that they amounted to 170 cases in January, compared to 135 cases in February, while bank cases amounted to 705 cases, including 488 cases in January, compared to 217 in February.
