120 to 130 flights to operate daily from 1st Aug, incoming passengers to be subjected to PCR tests

The Council of Ministers announced that commercial flights for arrivals and departures from Kuwait International Airport will resume from 1st August, with a 30% capacity in the first stage as per health requirements in adherence to a 3 stage plan of implementation.

Around 120 to 130 flights per day including incoming and outgoing flights to carry between 8,000 to 10,000 passengers will be organized for both citizens and expatriates in the first stage. An interval time of one hour between each flight will be granted dependent on congestion between travelers.

The second stage will start on 1st February in next year for a period of 6 months during which the passengers accepted at the airport will not exceed 20,000 per day, up to a maximum of 200 flights per day.

The third stage will likely be initiated on 1st August 2021, where passengers exceeding more than 30,000 passengers per day, and a maximum of 300 flights per day will be permitted at the airport.  The operation of commercial flights at the airport will be subject to international guidelines set for requirements and regulations of regional and global airports for processing travelers. Bilateral agreements will be set up between Kuwait and a number of regional and international airports soon to start commercial flights. Airlines authorized to allow passengers to travel are notified of these requirements prior to the travel of citizens and expats to these countries to ensure the safety of travelers. Kuwait will implement health protocols for those entering the country which includes conducting PCR tests for passengers at their own expense. Details on requirements and guidelines for incoming passengers to Kuwait will be outlined in the coming days.
