India said on Thursday that 1,129 more people died due to COVID-19 and 45,720 fresh cases were reported from across the country.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its notification that the total COVID-19 cases in the country rose to 1,238,635 people while the death toll so far due to the pandemic jumped to 29,861.
However, the people who recovered from the deadly disease went up to 782,607 as the pandemic hit 35 Indian states.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, New Delhi, Telangana, Karnataka, Assam and Bihar are among the worst affected Indian states.
The government has asked people, governments and local authorities to take all necessary precautions as the nation entered into the second phase of unlocking, adding guidelines in the containment zones should be followed strictly.
