As the closing date for receiving bids from international road maintenance companies, scheduled for June 15, draws near, the Ministry of Works held, Thursday, the preliminary meeting for the radical maintenance contracts for the country’s streets and roads, and “discussed with representatives of the companies a number of issues regarding the expected projects.”

Reliable sources told Al-Qabas that the meeting was attended by many companies’ representatives who purchased the tender documents, in addition to officials from the Public Works Authority. This meeting came according to the predetermined schedule for the maintenance of the country’s roads.

The sources pointed out eleven international companies representing 7 countries from Asia, Europe and the United States of America have submitted their bids, including their practical plan to participate in road maintenance projects, while the offers continue to be received until the door is closed.

The sources pointed out that the Minister of Works, Dr. Amani Bouqmaz, stressed the need to radically address road problems and implement road and street maintenance works in accordance with international standards.

The sources pointed out that an integrated plan has been put in place to “make a quantum leap in the infrastructure through the upcoming projects.” Priorities for work will be determined after signing contracts with qualified international companies according to the condition of the streets.
