Ministry of Health (MoH) declared on Thursday that 1,019 patients contracted the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the total infections to 188,024, in addition to five new deaths with the death toll hitting 1,067.
The number of people hospitalised with the virus currently stands at 10,938, with 152 of them in intensive care units, according to ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, who revealed that some 9,036 swab tests were conducted over the last day out of a total of 1,764,536. He went on to urge nationals and expatriates alike that abiding by health precautions, mainly, following social distancing rules, is the only way to halt the spread of the virus. The ministry had earlier reported that some 971 more people had been cured of the virus over the past day, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 176,019.
