100 female university students trained on self-examination for breast cancer

Dr. Hessa Al-Shaheen, a board member of the Cancer Awareness National (CAN) Campaign and responsible for the ‘Your Health is a Crown’ initiative, announced 102 female university students have been trained on self-examination for early detection of breast cancer, at the faculties of Education, Arts and Breast Cancer Science, Architecture and Law.

Al-Shaheen, speaking on the sidelines of a tour at the Kuwait University, said CAN put in its annual strategy programs for school and university students, reports a local Arabic daily.

She pointed out that the cancer awareness went to the university in coordination with Dr. Laila Al-Khayat, in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Women’s Voluntary Society for Community Service and Development within a medical and administrative staff, as well as with a laboratory for examinations, and provided distinguished services to the students, and distributed brochures to remind them of the examination and self method to detect the initial signs of many cancerous diseases.

Dr. Nadia Al-Mahmoud gave a lecture at the Strategic Planning Department of the Ministry of Awqaf on breast cancer awareness among female employees, and methods of self-examination, and stressed the need to conduct a mammogram for women over 40, noting that every woman has a great opportunity to maintain her health.
