MEW warns of potential power outages in select areas

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy today (Friday) has warned of potential power outages in select areas due to overloads and maintenance.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, said this is a precautionary notice indicating that it may be compelled to temporarily disconnect power to certain parts of agricultural, industrial, and residential areas.
This measure, the Ministry explained, could become necessary in light of the exceptionally high electricity loads currently being experienced, particularly during peak consumption hours.
The Ministry has reassured the public that such outages — if implemented — will be limited in scope and duration, and will only affect specific parts of affected areas, not entire regions. The decision to proceed with temporary disconnections will be determined by real-time monitoring of load levels and operational priorities.
In a message, the Ministry has also called on all citizens and residents to cooperate by rationalizing electricity consumption, particularly during peak hours, to help relieve pressure on the power grid and reduce the need for service interruptions.
However. the Ministry concluded by affirming its commitment to providing continuous service while safeguarding the public interest and protecting the national power infrastructure.
