MEW leadership fast-tracks Shuaiba North power plant revamp ahead of summer surge

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has significantly strengthened Kuwait’s power generation capacity by reactivating the Shuaiba North Power Plant, boosting the national grid by 860 megawatts and restoring water production output to 45 million imperial gallons.

Sources familiar with the issue told Al-Rai that the Power Plants Sector has completed the maintenance and rehabilitation of the plant’s units and water distillers. The process, which had been delayed due to technical issues, was completed in collaboration with a global firm and under the close supervision of ministry engineers.

The sources affirmed MEW Minister Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, has been personally monitoring the progress of the maintenance schedule, supported by the Undersecretary Dr. Adel Al-Zamel and Assistant Undersecretary for the Power Plants Sector, Engineer Haitham Al-Ali, to ensure the timely readiness of power and water production units ahead of the peak summer demand.
