As the nation navigates through the agonizing status quo, the national flower has become omnipresent on social media as part of a national campaign to demonstrate loyalty to the homeland and a country that refuses to capitulate to the ongoing Iranian aggression.

Kuwait’s national flower, Al-Arfaj, with its unmistakable yellowish color, has pervaded social media platforms as an enduring symbol of unity in the face of a relentless wave of Iranian attacks on Kuwait.
Al-Arfaj, which thrives in Kuwait’s arid landscape, stands as a symbol of strength and perseverance against a barrage of Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwaiti infrastructure for over a month.
As the nation navigates through the agonizing status quo, the national flower has become omnipresent on social media as part of a national campaign to demonstrate loyalty to the homeland and a country that refuses to capitulate to the ongoing Iranian aggression.
Praising the palpable sense of national unity, the Environment Public Authority’s public relations chief Sheikha Al-Ibrahim told KUNA that her fellow compatriots resemble the Al-Arfaj flower with their “united stand,” given that the flower is a poignant emblem of perseverance in the darkest of times.
The official went on to describe Al-Arfaj as a low-growing desert shrub typically between 20-60 cm tall that flourishes in the desert landscape of northern Kuwait and the Arabian Peninsula, marked by its drought-tolerant characteristics and ability to conserve moisture through its thick and waxy leaves.
Citing the core challenges facing Al-Arfaj, she mentioned climate change and human activities, in addition to grazing, as factors that have pushed the Kuwaiti national flower to the brink of extinction.
