Kuwait stocks surge as Trump-Iran truce sparks market rally

Kuwait’s stock market opened on a strong note on Tuesday, with key indices posting notable gains following US President Donald Trump’s decision to reach a truce with Iran, boosting investor sentiment across the board.

The General Index climbed by 157.5 points, or 1.8 percent, to reach 8,674.7 points. Trading activity saw around 12 million shares exchanged through 1,805 transactions, with a total value of approximately 12 million Kuwaiti dinars.

The Main Market Index also advanced, rising 130.87 points, or 1.7 percent, to 7,892 points. This came amid the trading of 18.2 million shares across 892 transactions, valued at 2.6 million dinars, reports Al-Rai daily.

In parallel, the Premier Market Index recorded a gain of 188.90 points, or 2.04 percent, reaching 9,285.7 points, with 21.6 million shares traded in deals worth about three million dinars.

The Main 50 Index led the gains, surging 278.15 points, or 3.4 percent, to close at 8,416.25 points. Trading volume stood at 21.9 million shares across 995 transactions, with a total value of 3.2 million dinars.

In the energy sector, Kuwaiti crude prices also moved higher, rising by $1.13 to reach $121.09 per barrel, further supporting positive market momentum.

The upward movement reflects improved investor confidence following easing geopolitical tensions, with markets responding swiftly to signs of stability in the region.
