Kuwait reopens Abdali border crossing, restores passenger, cargo traffic
Kuwait has reopened the Abdali border crossing with Iraq following its temporary closure after a recent attack, restoring the movement of travelers, commercial goods, and freight vehicles.
Security sources said the reopening was carried out under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, with the Ministry of Interior coordinating closely with the relevant authorities to resume border operations.
According to the sources, the crossing has been witnessing the gradual return of normal operations since the day before yesterday, with a significant number of trucks crossing into Iraq and travelers once again using the border post.
The Ministry of Interior is continuing efforts, in coordination with the concerned agencies, to repair damage caused by the attack while ensuring the safe movement of passengers and the uninterrupted transport of goods.
The reopening restores a key land trade and travel route between Kuwait and Iraq after operations were suspended in the aftermath of the attack.
