Kuwait, ICRC strengthen strategic humanitarian partnership in Geneva talks

Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah held a meeting in Geneva with Pierre Krähenbühl, Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), during his official visit to Switzerland.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on the deep-rooted relationship between Kuwait and the ICRC and explored avenues to further enhance bilateral cooperation. The meeting also touched on pressing regional and international humanitarian issues of mutual concern.

Krähenbühl praised Kuwait’s distinguished leadership in humanitarian diplomacy, describing the country as a source of inspiration for its consistent and principled efforts to ease human suffering.

“It is always an honor to meet with Kuwaiti officials,” he told KUNA. “The ICRC deeply values its enduring strategic partnership with Kuwait, which is founded on mutual respect, trust, and a shared humanitarian mission.”

He reaffirmed the ICRC’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Kuwait in the near future, highlighting the importance of continued dialogue to expand the scope of collaboration in addressing the escalating humanitarian needs across the Middle East and beyond.

The meeting underscored Kuwait’s vital role in international relief work and reaffirmed its position as a key global actor in responding to humanitarian crises.
