Kuwait Customs trains border teams to combat cash smuggling and financial crimes

The General Administration of Customs has organized a workshop titled ‘Combating money laundering and terrorist financing and procedures for countering cross-border currency smuggling” at its training center in Shuwaikh’s Area 3.

In a statement, Customs said the workshop is part of ongoing efforts to enhance operational readiness and strengthen the capabilities of its personnel.

It targeted shift supervisors across all border points, focusing on the latest techniques and procedures used to detect and combat money laundering and terrorist financing activities, reports Al-Anba daily.

The program also covered mechanisms to prevent the smuggling of cash through land, air, and sea ports, equipping participants with practical tools to address evolving financial crime methods.

Customs emphasized that the workshop forms part of a broader strategy to raise field awareness and tighten oversight at border crossings, contributing to more effective enforcement and control measures.

The authority added that additional workshops are being conducted for inspection staff at entry points to ensure wider participation and to further develop practical skills, documentation processes, and on-ground monitoring capabilities.

These training programs will continue throughout the year as part of Customs’ commitment to combating financial crimes and aligning its operations with international best practices.
