
A South Korean vessel was struck by an explosion followed by a fire while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, according to the South Korean Foreign Ministry.
The ministry said the incident occurred aboard a ship operated by a South Korean shipping company. No injuries were reported among the 24 crew members on board, including six South Koreans and 18 foreign nationals.
Authorities added that the cause of the explosion and subsequent fire, as well as the extent of the damage, remain under investigation.
According to vessel tracking data from MarineTraffic, the ship is a cargo vessel approximately 180 meters in length and sailing under the Panamanian flag.
