PAI says effective from May 15 until Sept 15 work to be suspended from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Midday shutdown mandated for industrial establishments to protect national electricity grid

The Public Authority for Industry has announced that owners of industrial establishments must suspend operations during peak hours set by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The decision comes as part of state efforts to stabilize the electricity grid and ensure uninterrupted power supply during high demand periods.

In a statement, the authority said the measure will take effect from May 15 and continue until September 15, 2026, coinciding with the summer months when temperatures and energy consumption rise significantly.

The authority clarified that industrial establishments will be allowed to resume operations in the evening after regular working hours, whether they operate on a single-shift or two-shift system.

It also confirmed that it will coordinate with relevant authorities to take legal action against violators, stressing the importance of full compliance.

The move falls within the framework of the state’s broader strategy to promote the rational use of electricity and water, particularly amid increasing pressure on the power grid during peak summer conditions.
