Cuban Embassy in Kuwait marks Castro’s centenary, highlights his enduring legacy

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Kuwait commemorated the centenary of the birth of late Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, highlighting the continuing influence of his legacy on Cuba and on peoples who uphold sovereignty, justice and international solidarity.
The embassy stressed that the best tribute to Castro is to preserve the values he championed, particularly dignity, solidarity, justice, peace and the right of peoples to self-determination.
Cuban Ambassador Highlights Castro’s Legacy
Cuban Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Alain Torres said that speaking about Fidel Castro means speaking about Cuba, while emphasizing that Castro’s legacy extended far beyond the island.
Torres described Castro as a leader who connected national sovereignty, the dignity of peoples, social justice and international solidarity as interconnected principles in both political thought and practice.
He said Castro’s ideas and example continued to influence peoples and movements beyond Cuba, particularly those defending every country’s right to determine its own future and destiny.
International Solidarity as a Core Principle
Torres said Castro viewed solidarity as more than a slogan, considering it a way of life and a practical approach. During his leadership, Cuba shared specialized personnel, knowledge, efforts and support with peoples across Latin America, Africa and other regions, which Torres described as an essential part of Castro’s legacy of international solidarity.
Ambassador says Values Remain Relevant
The Cuban ambassador stressed that 100 years after Fidel Castro’s birth, the principles associated with his legacy remain highly significant, particularly amid the circumstances currently facing Cuba.
The embassy said preserving the values of dignity, solidarity, justice, peace and self-determination remains the most meaningful way to honor the late Cuban leader.
