Public Authority for Youth (PAY) its keen on regulating voluntary action and unifying efforts of all bodies working in this field, PAY's Director General Abdulrahman AlMutairi said in Tuesday.

This would provide opportunities to the young volunteers and enable them to play their key role in the development and prosperity of the society, he added. Speaking during a session on sustainable professional volunteering held Tuesday at the national library, AlMutairi said the gathering discussed some topics including mechanisms of legalizing voluntary action to overcome crises and make positive development.

There would be several meetings to obtain several proposals on volunteering groups, he noted. For her part, Assistant Undersecretary for social development sector affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Hana'a AlHajri said the ministry launched an initiative in 2014, adding that it has so far 180 members of youth.

She called on the voluntary groups to pay much attention to environment and the integration of the disabled into the society. She stressed that the ministry has spared no efforts to offer facilitations to these groups.

Musaed AlEnezi, head of youth affairs department at the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, said KRCS includes 2,000 volunteers who had training courses on first aid and civil defense. He affirmed that these young people have played a distinguished role, mainly in relief and humanitarian action.
