Youth Icon of India Award - 2018 awarded to deserving students

Girl students and their teachers from the Chennai Thiruvotriyoor Government School received the thunderous applause for their impressive performance, as they won the Youth Icon of India Award - 2018, a quiz and extempore contest held at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) in Chennai, jointly conducted by Space Kidz India (SKI) and SIST. It was a unique competition to commemorate the spirit of national youth day among the high school students of all boards.

Space Kidz India, is an Organization creating International experiential learning for students in the field of Science, Technology, Art and Culture. The first Ambassadors to the NASA Space camps, Euro Space Center and recently announced the ambassador for Yuri Gagarin Space Center - STAR CITY, Moscow for the 'Cosmonaut Training Program'.

This is a quiz and extempore based competition,  designed completely on India and the International affairs of India, to predominantly evoke the leadership quality in a high school student. The 'Youth Icon of the Year' will fly to Sri Lanka for a Youth Leadership Camp, said SKI's Director Srimathy Kesan. All the participants have been awarded appreciation certificates.  International Quiz Master Justin Antony created a joyous atmosphere with his special style of quizzing in Basic Science, Sports, History, Literature, UNO, Rapid Round, Question with clues; besides, parents, teachers and the public enjoyed his humorous audience quiz.

The finale was an extempore, the students were given one common topic, 'what would be the policies that you  wish to recommend for the benefit of the people'.

Edison from St. John's Public School kissed the Youth Icon of India Award - 2018, Vinay Murali Prasad from Velammal Matric, Bodhi Campus and Pawan from GTV Vidhya Manthir won the second and third prizes respectively.

The highlight of this second edition of Youth Icon was the first-ever participation by 15 Panchayat Union Middle School and Government Schools. It was a treat to watch Tamilselvi and Shalini from Chennai Thiruvottriyur Government School speak their way in the extempore, and were awarded special prizes apart from Trophy and Certificates, 3 days trip to New Delhi with Teacher.

Sheela Rani, Research Director in Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, UN International Youth Council Member and Quiz Master Justin Antony, SKI Director Dr. Srimathy Kesan, Sanju Suryadev, young cricketer in the Indian Book of Records and Ashton Paul, youngest astrophysicist in the Asia Book of Records honoured the winners.
