The World Tulu Convention amazed Tuluvas in Kuwait with a massive line of guest-list, an array of cultural programs, Tulu Discussions, dance performances by ‘Excellent’ Group, a Tulu Drama ‘NankMatherlaBodu’ by Lakhumi Thanda and a Yakshaganaon Gandiva Biruva. The World Tulu Convention that took place on the 17th and 18th October at the American International School, Kuwait was a grand success with superlative performance given by everyone.
Shri Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, in a message sent to the association, expressed his deep desire to be a part of the Convention as the preparations of the event was taking place since quite some time now. He mentioned that he could not attend the function due to unavoidable reasons and wished that the Convention would continue with the same tradition and aim of the World Tulu Convention of Ujjire.
It was also resolved to pass the foremost motto of the event to support “the Inclusion of Tulu Language to the 8th Schedule of the Constitution”.
The Chief Guest for the first day was Advocate. Ivan D’Souza, General Secretary of the Karnataka Congress Pradesh Samithi and for the following day was Abhay Chandra Jain, Youth and Fisheries Minister. The Guest list included Educationist Professor Abdul Rahman, Vivek Rai, Founder of the Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy, Dr. B.R. Shetty, Vaman Nandavar, Writer and Professor, Chandrakala Nandavar, Dr. Chandrashekar, Managing Director of Adarsh Hospital Udupi, International Photographer, Astro Mohan, Social Worker Harish Pergade, Famous Drama Artist Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, Janapada Artist Dayanand Kattalsar, World Raymond D’Souza, Editor Chief of Udayvani Manohar Prasad, Expert in Mimicry and hosting Tonse Pushkal Kumar.
Under the leadership of the President, Ramesh Kidiyoor and with the superlative guidance of the Cultural Secretary, Suresh Salian, the Vishwa Tulu Sammelan reached out to the hearts of the people. The event started off with a traditional procession in place lead by Rajesh Poojary and Manoj Poojary. The procession for both the days charmed kids and adults alike, with the traditional Tiger dances, jokers, dancers, Chenda, an elephant and much more.
Guest Hosts Manohar Prasad and Tonse Pushkal Kumar along with Bhavishya Shetty and Shobha Bhandary hosted the event with grace and dignity. The First day of the event witnessed various cultural activities by different associations of Karnataka in Kuwait, namely Billava Sangha Kuwait, Bunts Kuwait, Kuwait Canara Welfare Association, Bunts Kuwait, Navachetna Yuvaka Mandal and United Mangaloreans of Kuwait. Every association made sure to give their best cultural and traditional performance.
The first day of the event had an hair raising performance given by Yakshagana artist on Gandiva Biruva scene, while the second day had the audience clap with laughter on the performance of the Lakhumin Thanda Group on Nank Matherla Bodu.
