Workers mustn’t sleep in shops
July 24, 2017, 9:41 am

The Emergency Team of Farwaniya Municipality launched a field inspection campaign with security support from Ministry of Interior on cafés in Ardiya Industrial Area, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality explained that the campaign was in line with other inspection campaigns launched by the department to ensure validity of food items, which are being sold in various cooperative societies, eateries and food shops, for human consumption.

The inspection campaign, which was led by Khaled Al-Radha’an continued for three hours and resulted in discovery of 11 violating cafés and issuance of nine citations. The violations included non-compliance with technical regulations set by Kuwait Municipality and exploitation of some shops for accommodation purposes.

Al-Radha’an affirmed continuation of such inspection campaigns both during and after official working hours in order for the owners of these shops to implement the set regulations.  He also affirmed that legal measures will be taken against violators, warning owners that they should not allow their workers to sleep inside the shops.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) ordered the closure of two establishments for failure to adhere to safety regulations. One of establishments is a nine-storey medical building in Hawally and the other is a store for kitchen equipment and hotels in Shuwaikh.

The concerned department had earlier issued warnings to the two establishments and granted enough time for their owners to rectify violations and meet the safety standards set by the directorate.

And, fire inspectors issued warnings to five industries located in Jahra, Shuwaikh and Farwaniya. They have been given 72 hours to rectify their violations and meet safety standards, or else, these industries will face administrative closure.
