Wonderful wedges
July 2, 2017, 3:18 pm

There are no more quintessential shoes of laid-back summer vibes than wedges. An essential style, wedges elevate any look while maintaining a casual, effortless sort of chic. They are also the perfect shoes for when you want to bring heels on your next getaway, but need something that will be reasonable to move around in. Given their versatility, there are dozens of little styling adjustments you can make to mix in a fresh new style—whether it be with a maxi, jeans, a coatdress, or cool layering—that feels different from how you might have worn them last year. Here are a few golden rules when it comes to styling wedges.

Choose a unique material:  When you think of wedges, it's easy to get stuck in a box of what they are supposed to look like: open-toe sandals with woven heels. While that does define classic wedges, this shoe style is more than just a summer go-to. Experiment with different finishes and materials for your next pair, and use it as a point of interest to make your outfit pop.

Use neutral tones:  For a warm-weather outfit, there is no better type of heels than wedges. Wedges in white or a similarly neutral tone work best if you are trying to emphasize a laid-back look that works for a cool summer vibe.

Go bold: Wedges in fluorescent colors are amazingly statement making, and with strappy design, they are just right for a night out. Proceed to style them with a bodycon dress or a metallic skirt. You can ease up on the color and go wild with amazingly vibrant print shoes, and with extra hardware like a buckle ankle strap, they are sure to be a bonus for any outfit.

Pair with boyfriend jeans:  Tall platform wedges go great with boyfriend jeans. The high platforms are subdued by the casual look of the wedges paired with the slouchy, rolled-up hem on boyfriend jeans. Dress it all up with a statement-making top, or keep things simple with a tee.

Add a summer vibe with espadrilles: There Is no better summer version of wedges than espadrilles, and a lace-up option adds a feminine edge. The best style is to match a modern pair with light-wash denim and a richly hued coat for relaxed style that still looks effortlessly polished.

Alternatively, usher in a slew of easy-breezy outfits with a pair of suede flatforms that are begging to be teamed with white pants and a chambray shirt for a low-key preppy look.

Dress down a formal outfit: Wedges can prove an unexpected way to bring any elevated outfit back down to earth. By choosing wedges, you can avoid overshooting the formality of an outfit while still opting for the added height and elegance of heels.
