Ways to mix your hair products

All Fashionistas value versatility, particularly when it comes to beauty products. And many are particularly fond of products that play well with others—formulas that can be mixed, matched, and blended with one another to either optimize or change their performance—so if you have only been using your hair styling products for one purpose up until now, get ready for a drastic change. These perfect pairings will increase your styling possibilities tenfold, guaranteed.

Anti-Frizz Serum + Volumizer:  To infuse frizz-prone hair with tons of body and bounce sans flyaways, blend a drop of anti-frizz serum into a volumizing cream or mousse. You will get a trendy, voluminous look that still has smoothness and shine. You can also ‘spot treat’ by working just the volumizer into your roots, then running the blend of the two through your lengths to tame.

Moisturizing Styling Cream + Oil: If you have super dry, damaged ends that could really use an extra boost, mixing your hydrating styling cream with a rich oil is the way to go. These two types of products blend well in texture, so they go on smooth, and they really pack a powerful moisturizing punch when used in conjunction. Don’t play it lax and use one, when you can use both.

Curl-Enhancing Gel + Anti-Frizz Serum:  It is not uncommon for curly and wavy hair types to struggle with frizz, and when you are using curl-enhancing products to scrunch your strands into place, your hands can make things even worse. Combining your curly hair product of choice with a frizz-fighting formula can cut down significantly on flyaways, whether you are using your hands to air-dry or drying with a diffuser.

Shine Serum + Texturizing Paste: If pretty, disheveled texture is what you are after, a good tousle with a texturizing paste can’t be beat. The caveat, however, is that these products tend to leave hair with a matte, slightly dirtied appearance. If you want tons of texture that still has soft, natural shine, blend your texturizing paste or cream with a touch of shine serum and work it through your lengths and ends.

Oil + Sea Salt Spray: Sea salt spray is a mainstay in our styling routines for achieving the perfect wavy, bedhead-y beachside texture, but it’s also infamous for zapping the moisture out of dry, compromised hair. Nix that problem in the bud by blending your favorite sea salt spray with equal parts oil. You will need a separate spray bottle to make it happen, but the promise of the resulting soft, silky, surfer girl waves will be worth it.
