Violators of noontime working ban to be prosecuted: Mutairi
June 3, 2014, 9:24 am

Labor inspection teams recently checked various open air working sites to make sure companies and contractors fully observed the noontime work ban in the open between 1 pm and 4 pm from the beginning of June till the end of August as stipulated by ministerial decree number 212/2012.

In this regard, team leader Hussein Al- Mutairi said that all violating employers who force their workers to work during the ban hours would be subject to restrictive measures starting with warning notices, suspending the companies’ files with the MSAL, referral to prosecution and fining the violating company KD 200 per worker.

Mutairi said that the aim of such inspection and measures was to limit violations committed against expatriate laborers and refute the accusations leveled at Kuwait of violating human or expatriate labor rights. He also urged employers to abide by the ban for the safety of their own laborers during the summer, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.
