Being the platinum sponsor of the annual Al Roudan Indoor Football Tournament, VIVA, Kuwait’s fastest-growing and most developed telecom operator, took part in a private event hosted by the organizers to meet the well-known football player Andriy Shevchenko.
On Thursday 25 June, VIVA’s Corporate Communications team and esteemed guests welcomed Shevchenko at the VIP hall at Kuwait International Airport, who participated in the Al Ruodan match with a team led by Al Qadisiya Sports Club player Saif Al Hashan and Shevchenko’s team, where they played a friendly match and enjoyed his talents in football.
Shevchenko talked about his football experience and shared their views about sports in the region, particularly in Kuwait, and what VIVA has done over the past six years, from its partnership with Manchester United and Real Madrid, to its strategic sponsorship with Kuwait Football Association (KFA).
Shevchenko is a former Ukrainian footballer who played for Dynamo Kyiv, Milan, Chelsea, and the Ukrainian national team as a striker. Shevchenko is ranked as the fifth top goal scorer in all European competitions with 67 goals. With a tally of 175 goals scored for Milan, Shevchenko is the second most prolific player in the history of the club, he also won the UEFA Champions League in 2003 with Milan, and he has also won various league and cup titles in Ukraine, Italy, and England. He was also an UEFA Champions League runner-up in 2005 and 2008.
VIVA’s sponsorship of the Al Roudan Tournament stems from its strong belief in the importance of the sports sector, it is also part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility program to help generate more interest and awareness among the public regarding sports. This tournament is one of the leading and most prominent sports activities held during Ramadan.
