VIVA and Microsoft announce direct operator billing for app purchases

VIVA, Kuwait’s fastest-growing and most developed telecom operator, and Microsoft announced on 9 July a direct operator billing facility on Windows Store for Microsoft Lumia users.  The unique initiative will enable VIVA customers to purchase apps from the Windows store without a credit card, and the same would be directly charged to their monthly post-paid bill or debited from their prepaid account. Customers can now benefit from this new service. The agreement became possible because of the strategic partnership between Microsoft, VIVA and Intigral, the Middle East leading digital hub.

The use of applications on smart devices has caused a boom in the world of smart devices, redefining the way people perform their daily personal and work tasks. The direct operator billing facility will enable VIVA customers to purchase apps from anywhere, at any time, and download the very latest in mobile enhancements at their convenience. There are many customers who are reluctant to pay the cost using a credit card either because they do not own a credit card or simply because they do not want to share their credit card details when making purchases.  Through this direct payment channel, VIVA is presenting its customers with the benefit of performing any online or in-store transaction in an easy and secure way without the need for a credit card.

VIVA’s customers using Microsoft Lumia will need to choose the application they want to buy from the Windows  Store. They would then have to select the VIVA account option on the payment screen to continue with the transaction. The VIVA account will then be automatically set as the default option for all future purchases of applications and games.
