A senior Obama Administration official is to start a tour of the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for talks on missile defense cooperation.
Assistant Secretary for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance (AVC) Frank A. Rose is expected to meet with senior officials at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense in each of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Kuwait, the US State Department said late Friday.
Rose's tour lasts from December 11 for December 21. The AVC Bureau's core missions within the Department of State concern arms control, verification, and compliance with international arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament agreements or commitments.
AVC advances national and international security through the negotiation and implementation of effectively verifiable and diligently enforced arms control and disarmament agreements involving weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery as well as certain conventional weapons.
