Kuwait’s premier social and welfare organization UP NRI Forum, Kuwait in conjunction with Indian Doctors Forum, Kuwait organized a Free Medical Camp on 4 November at Salmiya Indian Model School to cater to health needs of Indian Diaspora in Kuwait.
The camp was divided in to two sessions:
Health Educational Session: Dr. Juzar Ali, a senior Cancer Specialist presented slide show and awareness session on Cancer with focus on Prostate Cancer, Symptoms, Treatment and Healthy Lifestyle to avoid cancer as a disease. Dr. Abhay Patwari , President - IDF and Chairman/ HOD - Deptt. of Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit, Jaber Al-Ahmed Armed Forces Hospital presided over the Session. Dr. Anis Ahmed, Director – SIMS and Jamal Abdulkhaliq Alnouri, Chairman – Shaikh Jamal Abdullah Alnouri Charity Society joined as guests of honor.
Health Checkup Session: This session was jointly inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Abhay Patwari, Guests of honour Dr. Anis Ahmed and Jamal Alnouri in the presence of senior community members such as Dr. Mirza Umair Beg, Aijaz Ahmed Sarfaraz, Dr. Vinod Grover, Dr. Rajender Mishra, Dr. Surender Naik Kapadi, Dr. Amir Ahmed, Dr. Waani, Waseem Siddiqui, Zeeshanullah Khan and family members of UP NRI Forum, Kuwait.
A team of specialist doctors and staff nurses from MoH and renowned private hospitals provided medical check-up and advice to attendees at the camp on a one-to-one basis, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar tests and Ultrasound scanning were arranged in addition to the Cholesterol tests done by Kuwait Heart Foundation. Besides free medical check-up the forum also distributed basic medicines free of cost.
More than 400 patients availed the free Health Checkup facilities. All the visitors had their general checkup, blood sugar, cholesterol.
A total of 16 new cases were found to have high blood sugar mostly females and two to three patients with high cholesterol. They were offered special attention from their clinic.
130 patients had their vision test coordinated by English Optics and 90 cases of eye refraction were found. A special attention was also given on breast cancer checkup for all female visitors. Dr. Sushobhna Nair from Kuwait Cancer Hospital examined 30 female patients and found four breast cancer suspects.
All these patients have been called to attend rapid breast clinic in KCCC to avoid delay and initiative has been taken by the UP NRI Forum, Kuwait. Apart from these, five females were identified at high risk and all were advised to go to the hospital for a regular mammography and follow up.
The camp was sponsored by BRF (Sadia Poultry), Sleeppedic Int. Co. W.L.L (SIC), Kuwait Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries Company, Sahara Air-Condition Company, Tetley Tea, Amgen, Roche and Lamb Weston. The venue was sponsored by SIMS.
The relentless efforts and hours of hard work by the forum’s dedicated members and volunteers ensured smooth functioning of the camp and helped hundreds of patients from different walks of life, suffering from varied health complications benefit from this noble and beneficial event.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by the Vice President of the forum.
