The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) said Monday that joint projects with Kuwait to improve the conditions of Syrian refugees in the region are still ongoing.

UNESCO has, so far, received USD five million worth of grants from Kuwait to support educational programs for the Syrian refugees, Dr. Hamed Al-Hammami, Director UNESCO Regional Office, stated to KUNA.
Al-Hammami made his remarks on the sidelines of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) delegation's meeting with UN and Jordanian officials in Amman regarding the Foundation's project to educate and rehabilitate Syrian refugees.

He expressed his pride in the "fruitful" cooperation with Kuwait since the first donors' conference in Kuwait to support and improve and conditions of Syrian refugees.

UNESCO is currently on the verge of another cooperation with Kuwait after the GCC-member country announced, during the 4th donors' conference in London last February, allocation of donations and grants to back the education sectors at hosting countries of Syrian refugees, including Jordan and Lebanon, he noted.
